Spring Buds

A tree may be lovelier than a poem,

but it is nothing without its spring buds.

The buds that bring life to the earth after a long winter.

The buds that shout, “Hello! It’s time!”

Time for beguiling beauty.

Time for the richness of color.

Time for Mother Earth to bless us with renewal.

This past week, as I spent time walking on two different trails, I took note of the buds.

Buds on the trees, buds on the bushes, buds in the sky, buds on the ground.

Buds that were already leafing.

I was surrounded by the birth of spring.

As much as I love summer – the warmth, the biking, the wearing of the flip-flops – spring brings the happiness that winter doldrums chase away. It’s life reborn. It’s spring green leaves, the smell of fresh linen air, the sounds of returning geese and cranes.

And no more white stuff.

Beautiful and warmth inspiring photos. Thanks for sharing your walk with us. I really like that single tree.

Thanks Dan! If you look really hard at the horizon of the single tree photo, you’ll see the bridge that goes over the highway to the minor league baseball stadium. It’s a fun trail for a walk, but a little short for a serious bike ride.

I’m eager to see if I’m still going to be limited to less than serious rides. I think it would be cool to ride a bike to a ball game. Riding back after beer and sausage, hmmm?

      • bikerchick57 says:

Riding back after beer might not be a good idea. First there’s the hill to pedal on either side of the bridge, not to mention the busy road that surround the area. A designated driver might be a better idea.

I would love to have a good camera with a zoom lens so that you wouldn’t have to zoom.

Bravo! Renewal! Such beautiful buds and blossoms. Here’s to renewal.🍻And no more ‘white stuff’ for awhile. 😉

It’s a celebratory time of year, Cheryl. The buds are leafing and the daffodil and tulips are coming out of the ground. The only white stuff that will be on the ground is when the cottonwood starts flying around in June!

Like you, I LOVE this time of year … in spite of my tree pollen allergies. It’s like everything is competing with one another to see who will be faster to go from bud to leaf. The changes from day to day are easily visible. Love, love, love it!!

    • bikerchick57 says:

I noticed a change from just two days ago that more trees are popping leaves. Last week’s rain coupled with warmer weather this weekend is helping matters along. Tree pollen be damned! This is the time to enjoy nature and the outdoors.

Took a bus ride today and just stared at the mountains and land – I love watching it all come in full and remembering to appreciate it – only a few months ago I wanted nothing more than a fresh, green mountain to take in. I love Spring!

    • bikerchick57 says:

Oh, I bet spring on the mountains is gorgeous. Glad you were able to take it in today and that you finally got your wish.

Our spring has already turned into summer! All our buds are budded and all our leaves have leafed (as opposed to left). Thanks for the return to spring. 🙂

You’re ahead of the game, Marian. Our weather is still trying to level off into something normal for this time of year. Spring can be so indecisive!

Yes! I’m so glad spring has sprung there. I always like your bridge photos in the biking temps, but these are swell too! 😀 You captured the buds beautifully. The other day I was inspired to take some photos of the (stupid, unwanted) baby trees in my yard, and have yet to do it. Love seeing them (not in my yard.)

    • bikerchick57 says:

Those darn baby trees! My ex and I used to go around and around with his mom that they didn’t belong in the yard and needed to be pulled. She always wanted to save them and plant them in the woods that bordered their property. We kept telling her no, that was not a good idea.

I like the bridges too, Joey. There’s something special about riding or walking over them.

My back 40 would be a forest if I did that! lol Definitely not a good idea!

  7. As we head into winter (admittedly without the white stuff but my Facebook feed last night was filled with ‘Did anyone else get flooded’ posts instead) I very much appreciate the burst of buds and blue skies on my screen. If only I could crawl inside it…

    • bikerchick57 says:

I think I would prefer snow over flooding as long as it’s not 24″ of snow. Glad to help you see spring, wish you could feel it too.
