At first, I LOL’d over Monday’s “Shame Your Pet” cat calendar page.
I have a cat that yowls at 3:00 am out of pride for the smelly Baby Ruth he leaves uncovered in the litter box.
Yeah, cats are weird.
Then again…
There are times when I think we’d all like to yowl about something at 3:00 am or any time of the day over the things that bring us joy.
The first bike ride of the season.
The coolest piece of clothing ever, on sale for half price.
Food that satisfies a craving.
Reuniting with an old friend.
Completing a goal set weeks ago.
Finishing a difficult project.
The birth of a child.
A football touchdown.
Leaving on vacation.
Having a beer while on the beach on vacation.
Seeing the first robin of spring, just like the cat.
Cats are free spirits. They can be trained for a price and a treat, but most often they want to be their own boss, sleep when they want, cry for food when they want, and yowl whenever they want.
I think it’s okay if we do that once in a while too.
Yowl for what makes us excitedly happy.

I think you’re right, Mary – we need to learn from these critters. They do seem to get through life on the easy line, well, the ones that trap humans into “ownership.” MuMu couldn’t get my attention at 2:30, so she came up on the bed. When that didn’t work (I tried ignoring her) she came up on my pillow. “I need to be scratched” sigh…
LOL. Maybe, you’d prefer my snoring queen! Gibbs was doing his “Look what I made in the litterbox” routine at 4:00 this morning. The human was not amused. π€¨
Ha ha – Gibbs is a classic.
LOL – Gibbs and Dessy are so much alike. Dessy howls pre-presentation too! Soon you’ll be able to get on that bike. The calendar does indicate Spring is this month…!
I often wonder what kind of yowl would come from Gibbs I he actually caught a bird.
But I really don’t want to know…
LOL – I’ve wondered that too…! Dessy might be quick, but her belly serves her well for a pace-setting prevention. But, she could surprise me, she’s done that before!
I admire cats because of their confident attitudes. They inspire me and have helped form my free-spirited nature. As for that calendar… as if you can shame a cat. Silly people.
True Ally. If I yell at Gibbs, he usually looks at me as if to say, “What?? What did I do??” No shame ever.
My thoughts exactly, Ally!
I think I need to let my inner yowl out more often … although maybe not at 3 am. If I’m yowling at 3 am, you know it’s not good.
Yeah, I know what you mean. I’m saving up a yowl for the next day that is sunny and above 32F. Cuz that’s all it’s going to take.
Oh yes! And if we can believe the weatherman, that will happen next week … for us anyway!
ππ
Yeah, I do believe cats are related to monkees.
Lol!
I can appreciate that as well. Yowling now for sofa, laptop, music time π
Yowl loud. Let the furry ones wonder what it’s all about. πππ
