“When you see someone doing the wrong thing, you need to do the right thing.”
~Ziarra Griffin~
When an 11 year old witnessed a hit-and-run, it would have been easiest to walk away. But that’s not Ziarra Griffin, who Andrew Sipowicz will “remember for the rest of my life.”
“The piece of art that put Ziarra Griffin on national television was drawn on a whim in the back seat of her mother’s SUV. It happened a few weeks ago on a quiet Monday afternoon, just after the 11-year-old climbed off a First Student school bus stopped on Blaine Avenue in Buffalo.”

With 6th graders like Ziarra, there is hope for youth and adults alike that integrity and honesty continue to thrive within our world.

What a great kid! I love it. Thanks for sharing this story, Mary/
You’re welcome, Dan. Her mom is raising her well and it’s so heartening to see someone that age with the understanding of ethics and willing to right a wrong. Very cool kid.
Exceptional story. I hope this young lady achieves all her goals.
I hope she goes far in life and in whatever career she chooses.
Beautiful story and good on the young girl to speak up
I giver her a lot of credit. It was a brave thinv she did.
This is so great to see. Ziarra has compassion and integrity and she should be so proud of herself for speaking up. Thank you so much for sharing this story, and for being an integral part of #WATWB. We’ve been going strong for two years thanks to you and our #WATWB family! Happy Anniversary!
You’re welcome, Belinda. Two years of WATWB has brought a smile and joy to so many people around the world. I’m happy to be part of it and share stories like that of Ziarra. She’s an awesome girl and I suspect that she will continue to grow into an awesome woman of character.
Let the children lead the way. What a good kid, Ziarra is. Congrats on two years with #WATWB.
Thanks Ally. Miss Ziarra is hope in our children that they will spread this brand of goodness into the future.
I love these stories and I wish the news was filled with them instead of the endless barrage of sad, bad, and outrageous. Can you imagine how much better the world would feel?
This is a great young lady and kudos to her parents.
I agree Joanne. We need good news TV channels to spread the positives in the world. Sometimes the Ziarra stories make it to national news, bt not often enough. That’s where #WATWB comes in, trying to do our part to lighten everyone’s day. 🙂
Great story, great kid!
Right? He’s going to go far in this world.
Ziarra is is both brave and beautiful inside and out. I love Steve Hartman’s stories. Good choice!
Agree on both accounts! Thanks.
What a lovely story. Thank you for sharing.
You are welcome! Thanks for reading. 🙂
This kid has her heart at the right place. Such a lovely heartwarming story. Thanks for sharing, Mary!
Welcome! I’m always happy to share the positive stories that come from our future.
What a sweet story! It’s uplifting to read about a young artist and her mom with such integrity, and I love that the mom listened to her daughter. Thanks for sharing:)
I imagine mom has a fair amount of ethics herself, and that she is very proud of her daughter.
Just WONDERFUL! Thanks Mary for sharing it. What a great kid Ziarra is, she’ll go far. And as Andrew said, his whole outlook was changed when he saw the note (to paraphrase)
Not too many drivers see notes like the one from Ziarra. This is a testament to how one note can change someone’s perception of the human spirit for fairness. Ziarra is an awesome young lady!
Good for her! Doing the right thing isn’t always easy, but it’s necessary. I know if that were my car, I’d want to know what happened.
I’m glad that Ziarra’s good deed received national attention. It’s a great example for other kids who might find themselves in a similar situation.
Hi Mary – what a great ‘kid’ … and I’m pleased she most obviously did the right thing … what a lovely #WAWTB post … cheers Hilary
Thank you Hilary. Yes, this young girl is truly awesome.
Such an inspiring act of kindness and bravery from a child. Way to go. The story illustrates that all is not lost in this world.
