THEY are…

“Who’s the Baby?”

~Iliza Shlesinger~

She is

The cuddler

The one who lays against me and vibrates

I cannot hold her in my arms

but I love her still

I cannot rub the squishy beige belly

but willingly it’s offered

She is

The snoring machine

The one who loudly makes her way through sleep

The queen of her cat kingdom

The Baby

He is

The social one

The one who kneads biscuits from human flesh

I can hold him tight in my arms

And I love him still

I can refuse his darkly wake-up calls

but begrudgingly I rise

He is

The mouthy machine

The one who loudly tells me what to do

The jester of his cat kingdom

The Baby

You are – the good human – the caring cat mom – the provider of necessities – the responder with love.

Thanks Dan…I try. This morning the caring cat mom was rousted by the noisy one, who can’t stand the “snooze” portion of my alarm. “Just ten minutes,” I wined, but he has joined the army of those who persist. I’ll love on them both when I get home from work…

10 minutes? Oh my, that’s an eternity to those guys. Unless you’re brushing them, then 10 minutes is just a warm-up session.

Aw, your words to describe your two kitties are precious! I read the post to my two cats, and they agree! Love the photos, too!

      • Shelley says:

LOL – the sitting still thing is definitely an issue, I know exactly what you mean! You’re doing great capturing them, I adore your Instagram photos too!

Instagram is a good thing when life gets in the way of writing words. Thanks Shelley!

Aren’t cats funny? Teemu would not sit in my lap, but was perfectly happy for me to carry him all over the house for as long as I could. Kitty did not like to be picked up, but waited for me to sit down so she could jump into my lap. Parker and Piper are just like Kitty.

I can say that every one of my cats has had a distinct personality. They each had something that endeared themselves to me. BABIES!

Awww….thanks for sharing your cat thoughts and photos. My son and DIL’s cat came over and sat on my lap yesterday, curled up and fell asleep. Made me think about getting another one. They are such great company!

I feel at times, Laurie, that I don’t truly appreciate their companionship, taking the lumps of fur for granted. Then again, I think they do the same to me when food and cuddles are not involved (a/k/a leave me alone, I’m sleeping).

I love the babies. Chickie was snuggly when she had her cat cone on. I keep threatening to put it back on, so she’ll cuddle. She wan’ts to be close but not ON. Tipper will come try to nestle where there is no nestling room. But they’re both in our hearts, wherever they rest.

The babies love you too, Auntie Marian. Both send their best regards in purrs and snores. 😺😺

Whenever Ziva sits ON my lap, it’s a momentous occasion when I wonder if she’s lost her mind. :-p
