Clueless

It always gives me a shiver when I see a cat seeing what I can’t see.

~Eleanor Farjeon~

Gibbs Attacks

I see what he sees, in the fuzzy distance.

But I am clueless over his thoughts.

Is she friend or foe to him, in this particular instance?

Does he ponder a gesture of friendship,

or the pounce of an attack?

The scene could be two cats, merely relaxing a few feet apart,

or the onset of a game…the principal players plotting to raise fine hairs down the back.

Although all cat games have their rules and rituals, these vary with the individual player. The cat, of course, never breaks a rule. If it does not follow precedent, that simply means it has created a new rule and it is up to you to learn it quickly if you want the game to continue. ~Sidney Denham

What goes on in the gray-furred head?

I haven’t a clue, but in waiting there is dread,

that I’ll have to play referee and send them early to bed.

Ha! I can so relate. Although if it is a bug, Parker makes this weird little ‘meorrwrw’ and then I know exactly what she is looking at.

Sometimes Gibbs has something “treed” (as my gf calls it) and I have no clue what. Can’t see a thing. I think he hallucinates. 😉

I know, I wish I knew. Or maybe I’m better off not knowing. I was trying to get a good close-up of Gibb’s nose for the Friday photo challenge, but he was having none of it. I got this one instead.

Our cats are sisters and they couldn’t be more different. They often look like they want to say: “what’s wrong with that girl?” I think you’re better off not knowing.

Beautiful shot. I love cats. Well, male ones — the females are truly conniving, lol. Why Merriam’s still doesn’t have a picture of a female cat to define the word “aloof,” I’ll never know.

Queen Ziva’s motto is “feed me, pet me, and leave me alone!” She doesn’t run from visitors, but she keeps an aloof posture while she determines their worthiness. The Merriam definition would have a photo of her…with her tiara of course! :-p

  3. This is a common occurrence in this house. Oh, not Leo. Can’t be bothered figuring out what’s in his head because I’m too busy wondering what the three offspring are thinking. Every day. “Really. What were you thinking?!?!?” Sigh.

  4. M-R says:

But Gibbs and Ziva get on OK, don’t they ? Or does he sometimes leap on her out of the dark as she strolls by …? Well, they’re like eternal children, aren’t they ? – in more ways than one.

Those two are so funny. Gibbs will chase Ziva until she hisses and growls and I have to break it up. But then Ziva turns around and runs right back after Gibbs. I think she likes to put on a hystrionic act, but secretly loves it.

Great photograph! I’m always wondering what goes on in their heads…

    • bikerchick57 says:

Thanks Herman! Those furry creatures probably think a lot about sleeping, eating and how their human could serve them better.

Really great shot, Mary! And I can so relate. One never knows what’s in their heads or what the rules entail. They’re ever changing!

If I were granted three wishes, I might waste one spending a day in conversation with my cats. I wonder their thoughts and what would come out of their mouths…

It is kind of spooky that staring in to outer space thing. Willow has already started doing it and she’s just a baby. Oh how I’ve missed having cats! It’s such a joy having one back in my life. Now I want LOTS! 😉

Ruh-roh. The Irishman is in for an awakening…that he married a crazy cat lady! I LOVE to watch kittens play, they are hysterically funny in the way they jump and chase – they do that sideways thing (just like when puppies run), trying to get control of their growing bodies while trying to catch whatever.

Love that photo. If you find out for sure what is going on inside that gray-furred head, you’ll let us know, right?

This post exemplifies the writing that I enjoy!! Love the photo as well!

Thank you again, Laurie. You are too sweet! Sending good vibes and positive energy for your campaign. I hope you become my favorite politician, even though I can’t vote for you. 🙂
