Life is interwoven
With last year and this
With friends newly found
And those we miss
Life is intertwined
With memories of prior days
With dating, marriage, divorce
And living separate ways
Life is interlaced
With community and work
With faith and social gatherings
And those times that irk
Life is intermittent
With sadness and joy
With richness, then poor
And brevity or a smile of coy
Life is invention
With smart phones and such
With new and crazy ideas
And the future that enriches much
Life is interactive
With humans face-to-face
With blogging and tweeting
And love to the human race
Life is interchanged
With smiles and nod of head
With handshakes and heartbreaks
And souls being fed
Life is an interlude
To share this poem with you
With coffee in hand
And Saturday best wishes anew
This poem of interwoven life is being brought to you by Linda G. Hill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday or SOCs. Click HERE to read other SOCs posts of the day and consider joining in after reading the rules. The main rule to remember is, “Your post must be stream of consciousness writing, meaning no editing, (typos can be fixed) and minimal planning on what you’re going to write.” Not an easy task for anal perfectionists like myself, but who said life has to be easy? Just make it fun!
I like that! It’s a perfect poem to help this weekend bring quiet relief from a hectic week. Nicely done on the #SoCS prompt.
I particularly like:
Life is interactive
With humans face-to-face
With blogging and tweeting
And love to the human race
Thanks Dan. I was going to write something last night, but I was so burned out from the week, I could only sit on the couch and watch TV. Two cups of coffee and sleep did a world of good. I may keep up with the Saturday morning poetry as it seems easier than a story when I’m not able to edit ten times over.
It takes more up-front thought, though. At least when I try.
Yes, it does. I have to be careful of the words I choose to rhyme. Sometimes options can be limited. I may have to work on my non-rhyming, free-form poetry in the future.
Life is incredible and you are such a grand part of that! Beautifully written Mary!
Thanks Cheryl! I need to get up soon and enjoy this incredible life. It’s not the warmest today, but blue skies and sun are beckoning!
Do enjoy the day! We have a bit of chill today but also blue skies. I hope to get out later but have a work art project I must complete first. Happy Saturday!
absolutely lovely!!!
Thank you! Happy Saturday! ☺
Have to say “I love this!” So many interpretations of inter and quite readable. 🙂
I appreciate the “readable” comment. That’s my goal when I write poetry.
Excellent. I had brain numbness to day and the inter- part cause me to do a “Whaaaa?” and want to sleep. You rose to the occasion!
Thank you, Katie! Yeah, I know the brain numbness thing. Luckily, “inter” kept nagging at me and won out.
Life is many great wonderful things. I have enjoyed reading this poem. Thanks.
Indeed Peter. Life is full of “inters,” isn’t it? Thanks for your lovely comment.
That was an excellent use of the prompt! Love it. I read it and feel connected — and balanced. 🙂
Thanks for interacting with me today, Joey, and for your kudos. 🙂
My pleasure 🙂
I enjoyed reading this out loud. At first, I didn’t consciously realize it rhymed because it felt so natural. Nice flow!
JoAnna, I’m glad that the poem felt natural to you. I think it should always be easy to read, whether it rhymes or not. Thanks for stopping by!
Wow – you’re good!!
The 2 stanzas that spoke to me the most were Life is intertwined and Life is interactive. You captured the nuances very well in each short piece. I liked this a lot.
Joanne, I’m humbled by your comments. I’m so glad you liked this. Seriously, had I tried to write this Friday night, when I was brain dead, I’m not sure what you would have read…might have been interesting, huh?
I don’t know, Mary. If this is SOC writing, what could you produce with some spit and polish?!! You have a philosophical soul 🙂
❤ 🙂
A beautiful reminder that life is a journey not a destination. 🙂 Happy weekend.
Happy journey and weekend to you too, Judy!
Beautiful, beautiful poem ❤
Thank you so much, Johnny. I appreciate your kind comment.
That was wonderful! Beautifully written. xoxo
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
What a lovely poem. I totally enjoyed reading this. Indeed life is interwoven, twined, laced…
Let me invite you to my blog party going on right now. If you find the time, you are welcome to join the networking. Regards.
Jacqueline thanks for stopping by to read and leave such lovely comments. I’ll try to check out the blog party later today, if it’s not too late. I have a busy Sunday ahead!
