An Isolationist’s Gratitudes

Prior to social distancing at home, I had been keeping a daily gratitude journal. It was birthed in May of 2019 and except for a few weeks where it became a weekly gratitude journal, I’ve kept it up. Now, as my isolationism runs steady, it’s important to continue – to find gratitude for what I have rather than what I do not have. So, I am going to share my top ten thoughts of gratitude from the past month. OrganicRead more

SoCS: The Organ of it All

Organ. Hmmmmm… Linda G. Hill requests I use the word organ in my post. I wonder if she smelled Natasha’s chicken livers cooking the other night. I hate liver, an organ meat. I know this because I keep trying liver and it continues to taste disgusting. I will eat chicken hearts and gizzards, but liver? No. I’ll stick with my bacon and organic chicken eggs. The Market of Smiles

Saturday, June 17th, was the first installment of Appleton’s outdoor Farmer’s Market. Dinnertime with Schnitzel

“This week, focus on dinnertime: share a meal with us, or shoot during your dinner hour. Blogger’s choice!” Stone Cellar is a popular brewpub and restaurant in Appleton. Mom’s own mother, who came from Germany with her husband and oldest son around the turn of the 20th century, was the master who taught youngest daughter the fine art of makingRead more

And the Answers Are…

Do you want answers to “What the Heck?” v.2? I just happen to have them for you, along with the naming of two winners. 1)  OWL PUKE.  M-R guessed the “what,” but MOSY inadvertently named it in her comment. I consider them both winners deemed worthy of my highest praise. You both rock and you are both science/weird humor geeks! Rock on with the owl puke! 2)  ORGANIC FARM EGGS.  Say what? That doesn’t make sense and, yet, it does.Read more

Not So Sweet Resolve

“What good is the warmth of summer, without the cold of winter to give it sweetness.” ~John Steinbeck~ How true when wind chills hover around -35 Fahrenheit (-37.22 Celsius) in the wee hours of the morning and when daytime temps are near 0. We are having an especially frigid week, reminiscent of last year’s It’s-colder-than-a-witch’s-behind winter. The long johns and hot beverages are working overtime. Funny, I’m not especially grumpy over the cold. I told Herman over at Hands onRead more
