Ten Cent Words

Early one morning at work… A co-worker and I were discussing why one of our Supervisors had reserved the conference room. Actually, it was more like guessing. When the conference room is reserved, the purpose of its use is not always clear. Sometimes the room is only reserved by name and the time period due to confidentiality – personnel issues, interviews, etc. We were wondering if it was a confidential thing, a meeting, or something else. Given our similar senseRead more

Upright and Breathing

“When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive—to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love—then make that day count!”  ~Steve Maraboli~ Words to remember, to live by. Often, I am asked by friends, family and acquaintances when meeting, “How are you doing?” Sometimes I answer with, “Awesome! I am awesome!” Sometimes I answer with, “Good, I can’t complain.” Sometimes I answer with, “Hey, I’m upright and breathing. Life is good.” SometimesRead more

Praise the New Day

“Morning has broken like the first morning Blackbird has spoken like the first bird Praise for the singing Praise for the morning Praise for them springing fresh from the world” ~Cat Stevens~ Although I appreciate summer’s morning sun at 6:00 am, it does not compare to the spectacular sunrises that guide me to work during certain times of the year. The photo above was taken in October, when everywhere I looked, the sky was multiple shades of pink and red.Read more

Morning Quest

Weekly Photo Challenge: “What are you in search of? Capture a quest with your camera.” (Apologies to my Facebook friends. You’ve seen this already. It’s Tuesday old and the fog has since lifted.) Ever since the Town of Grand Chute finished a walk/bike trail last fall, it’s been my quest to ride it to work in the morning during nice weather. I was only able to use the trail once last fall before the weather turned cold and the morningsRead more

Morning Fog

Weekly Photo Challenge: What does your morning look like? This was a morning drive to work, in March, when the weather was trying to decide if it should be winter or spring. Spring eventually won out, only to give its life to summer.Read more

Scraping Up an Early Bird Sunrise

As an early riser – 5:20 am – Monday through Friday, I often get the early bird special of a beautiful sunrise. This particular morning, on April 1st, it was a little chilly and I chose to take a photo from the other side of a car window that wasn’t completely cleared of the frost. The very next morning, April 2nd, I was greeted by another colorful sunrise, this time accented with the onslaught of puffy gray clouds. Since then, the daysRead more

Sky on Fire

On March 8th, the majority of North Americans rejoiced in Daylight Saving and the positive change it would bring. Me? I shed a little tear and whined a bit. In exchange for extended sun and light in the evening, I gave up the morning sun that had been showing its face for the two weeks prior. I LOVE morning sun. Love waking up to it. In the week before Daylight Saving, I brought out the sunglasses a few sun-blinding times during a drive into work.Read more
