#SoCS: Cleaning the Sty

Recently, Gibbs had few “sneezy” days and he lost his lunch a couple of times. Perhaps that’s normal, once-in-awhile cat behavior or perhaps it’s a sign of illness. In this case, my current supposition is that Gibbs was surrounded by too much dust and cat hair. It was evident when I started deep cleaning the bedroom and bathroom sty last weekend. Most often, I try to clean these spaces every two weeks, but this time it was three. I hadRead more

In a Cat’s Corner

“Hey mom?” “Yes, Gibbs?” “Are you writing again?” “I suppose I am…trying to come up with something for Stream of Consciousness Saturday.” “Stream of what?” “Consciousness. It’s a weekly prompt where all of the bloggers write a post without making any changes other than to fix their own bad spelling.” “That sounds hard.” “It is, Gibbs. Especially for me. I tend to be an obsessive/compulsive perfectionist. It’s hard for me to not want to fix something that sounded right whenRead more

Schooled by a Cat

“Laziness is the first step towards efficiency.” ~Patrick Bennett~ Gibbs has been schooling me on being lazy. On the advantages of sleeping and laying around. Doing what I want. Eating, watching TV, eating again, scrolling through social media, watching more TV. And not feeling guilty about it. He recently gave me a “B” for my efforts and said I had to work on a few things. Like not making the bed and taking more naps. I told him the bed-makingRead more

SoCS from the Pod: The Word

Hey Gibbs? Hang on a minute. Finishing up some business in the sandbox. I hope you’re not leaving a stinker again. Maybe. Make sure you cover. Why? I like the smell of me. Yeah, but mom doesn’t. Be considerate for a change. Whatever. Okay, I’m done. What do you want? What are we supposed to be writing for mom today? I think it has to do with a stream of something and a word. I did that in the box.Read more

Musings from the Pod VI: 10 Minutes

“Alas, poor mackerel in a can. I knew it, Ziva, a fish of infinite taste, of most excellent cuisine. It hath borne me on my lips several times, and now, how cherished in my imagination it is! I want to gorge upon it!” “Gibbs, what are you doing?” “I’m filling in for mom, writing for her blog. What do you think?” “No.” “No? I thought I was giving everyone a bit of cat culture.” “By bastardizing Shakespeare?” “How did youRead more

Musings from the Pod III

Gibbs? Yes, my Queen? What’s eco? Eco? I don’t know. Why do you ask? Because mom wants me to write a post for her about eco. I have no idea what that is, so I don’t know what to write. How did mom come up with that word? Not sure. Maybe she was drinking her happy juice again. I heard mom mention another human named Linda G. Hill, but I don’t know what that has to do with anything. She’sRead more

Kitty Kat Blues

This one has the Kitty Kat Blues. He’s not feeling well. We’re in the middle of Round 3 of antibiotics for what appears to be a bladder infection. That was the result, twice, of urinalysis. Except that Gibbs only responds positive for a few days, then returns to frequenting the litter box with a dabble of pee here, a dabble of pee there. The litter looks like it’s been hit with shotgun pee pellets. The boy wanders in there everyRead more

Cat Poop & Jesus

Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s “Cat Poop Day.” Not just today, but every day is Cat Poop Day. Why? Because cats around the world, both domestic and wild, poop every day. Yes, every day. It’s a thing they do, much like humans, to extol the virtues of cleansing the body of stuff they don’t need. The cause? It’s food. Those darn cats eat food every day. Sometimes several times a day…meat, grains, meat, vegetables, meat, fuzz off the carpet, etc. So,Read more
