SoCS: A Trail of Instructions

It’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday and Linda Hill is asking bloggers to do this: “Write instructions for anything you know how to do. As detailed or as rambling as you’d like.” Really? Write instructions for something I know? Gah! I’ve spent a few hours this week writing instructions for a Human Resources manual. I’ve spent a larger number of hours on this beast since the beginning of the year, assisting colleagues around the state who operate in the same position.Read more

His Momma Left Him

“To me, country music tells a story about, and deals with, the way people live their lives and what they do.” ~Randy Travis~ I’m not a huge fan of country music. I cherry-pick at it, depending on the lyrics and music. Sometimes I do country music simply because Keith Urban is on the TV with a guitar. That being said, blogging friend Dan over at No Facilities loves country music and decided it applies to cats as well as people.Read more

SoCS: Lips and Gremlins

It’s been one of those weeks. Blipping tiring and frustrating. Mostly work related with a bit of messed-up weather. The Elevator Story I was out of town for a couple days this week, at a business meeting in Madison. One of my peers had been bemoaning the fact that “the gremlins” were after her all day Monday. Anything that could go wrong, went wrong. I sat next to her during the Tuesday portion of the meeting. At about 4:00 pm,Read more

SoCS: The Unexpected

I’ve spent a lot of money in the last ten months. A new comfy mattress – planned A sick cat, lots of trips to the vet, canned food, holistic supplements – unplanned A sore foot due to plantar fasciitis, which meant new shoes, inserts, trips to the chiropractor, doctor and massage therapist – unplanned New tires for the SUV – required for Wisconsin winters and the faux spring of 2018 New eyeglasses – cuz everything looked this small with theRead more

Unattainable Resolutions for 2018

I don’t make New Year’s resolutions. No resolutions means no guilt later for not following through. I hate guilt. However, for the sake of Linda G. Hill’s Stream of Consciousness Saturday, I’m going to give you my Top Ten Unattainable Resolutions for 2018. No stress. No guilt. No worries about achieving goals. Ready? Here we go… Lose 30 lbs and look like Heidi Klum. Go to the gym or yoga every day so I can wear short skirts and lookRead more

Rump Roast

“Boredom: The desire for desires.” ~Leo Tolstoy~ Queen Ziva:  I’m bored. Jester Gibbs:  What do you want me to do about it? Queen Z: It’s your fault that I’m bored. J Gibbs: *huff* Queen Z: What’s that suppose to mean? J Gibbs: You’re as bad as the humans…blaming me for everything. Queen Z: That’s because you are to blame for everything. J Gibbs: *huff* Queen Z: Face it, you deserve the blame. You can’t control yourself. If there’s a doorRead more

Hugs!

June 4th is National “Hug Your Cat” Day! Ziva wanted nothing to do with the hugging crap. Gibbs pandered to me for just a moment… until he wriggled free. I think he was scared.Read more

Cat Scrabble Crossword

~Guest Post from The Gray One~ She doesn’t know this, but I have been in secret training to challenge the human to a marathon Scrabble match. Winner takes all. (I have yet to figure out what “all” means, except that the human will succumb to my demands when I win.) Ziva has not been involved in training, as she prefers to nap her lazy lump into oblivion. Therefore, I must train alone and strategize against the female who knows how toRead more

The Crinkle and the Nip

I ran into Walgreen’s to buy dish gloves. On the end of the aisle, my eyes were drawn to a long, brown, furry toy that crinkled and squeaked. It was a dog toy and it was perfect… for a cat. Natasha discovered some time ago that Gibbs loves the crinkly plastic that packagers use around jars and boxes and whatever product it helps seal. He comes running when he hears the noise, much like Pavlov’s Dog salivating at the sound of aRead more

Why Am I Here?

My why is a guess. I am quite sure. In life, I do what is best, but reality is never pure. Why am I here? Is it to serve a cat? To give in to fear? To never look good in a hat? My purpose may be to love others as it were Perhaps rise above hatred in the world Be the friend, help a loved one through ups and downs. Or find a way to laugh and have fun in theRead more
