SoCS: Another Left Turn

The way I travel to work is filled with lines and blue skies and an airport fence. It’s straightness follows a curve, a detoured right turn, a left turn, then up a hill. Past houses both small and hugely expensive, past groves of green and yellow trees, past a trail crossing. Another left turn. Driveways on the left, a narrow road, the foliage of green weighs heavy on a barrier fence. Almost there and then I stop. The light isRead more

What You Want

“You can’t always get what you want But if you try sometimes you might find You get what you need” ~The Rolling Stones~ We don’t always get what we want on vacation; however, vacation is something we all need. Wouldn’t you agree? (Crazy workaholics need not answer) For example, one may not get sweaty hot weather… But blue skies and a view is what is needed most. One may not see the perfect, cloudless sunset… But who can argue withRead more

When it’s this nice…

When it’s this blue… I must. When it’s this green… I shall. When the tunnels beckon… I go forth. When water brings peace… I breathe. When life tries to throw me… I stop and rest. When it’s this nice… See you later, alligator. (Wiouwash State Trail and Black Otter Lake – July 7, 2018)Read more

Shadowing of Spring?

Over at No Facilities this morning, Dan gave his readers the duality of a Florida sunset from a business trip and this past week’s snowpocalypse in the Northeast. The only good thing about the snow photos was pretty girl Maddie, the queen of her backyard mountain. Given a choice, I imagine Dan would prefer to be back in Florida where there are no snowblowers to be found and the weather is a tad bit warmer. A reply to my comments,Read more

One-Liner Wednesday: It’s Nice

“It’s so nice out today, I think I’ll leave it out.” ~Natasha’s brother~ With the exception of a short rain event on Monday, that was the existence of the weather this past Saturday through Tuesday – sunny, blue skies, temps in the 70’s. Beautiful. It prompted Natasha to spout one of the many one-liners she inherited from her family, and it prompted me to go for walks and a round-trip bike ride from home to work and back again. I wishRead more

Seasons: The Music of Impending Spring

Weekly Photo Challenge: Share an image evocative of the weather… Spring is singing a new song today, called “I’m coming soon!” Through early afternoon, the skies were blue and the stiff wind was warm. Since then, the clouds have taken over, rain is falling and winds are predicted to gust up to 45 m.p.h. Temperatures today and Saturday will be in the 40’s, which is warm for this neck of the woods in February. I was considered overdressed today with theRead more

Cross the Bridge

Blazing, sapphire blue skies. Warmer-than-normal November days. Crispy, crunchy fall air. Gold and yellow and brown leaves that land upon the earth. The path reaches for two feet and grabs hold. It pleads a midday walk. There is little resistance. The feet say “yes!” The senses feel, hear, as the eyes shut for a moment. Then… Travelling geese sound their alert and jar the feet awake. Bicyclists, joggers and fellow pedestrians pass by. The smallish breeze whispers gently upon a woman’s face. TheRead more
