Three Men and a Cell Phone

At 6:30 am on Sunday morning, the alarm on my cell phone went off. I reached over to where the phone sits on a night stand, picked it up and tapped the “snooze” button. The alarm continued to ring. Then I tried to swipe it silent. Nothing. I tapped the snooze again. Same results. I swear the alarm was getting louder. Panic started to set in. My roommate sleeps one wall over and I didn’t want the alarm to wakeRead more

Somewhat Busy

I can’t necessarily say that I live an exciting life. I can say I live a somewhat busy life. Unlike this guy… “Sleep my little baby-oh Sleep until you waken When you wake you’ll see the world If I’m not mistaken…”  ~Neil Gaiman~ I wanted so badly to sleep Thursday morning, to stay in bed until the urge for coffee overwhelmed the need to lay prone. Natasha isRead more

SoCS: I Have Strewn

A Cat’s Walls

Weekly Photo Challenge: WALL While the human stands on her patio deck, the cat is surrounded by avocado walls of a bedroom and a massive stretch of glass. It is no fair that these walls hold him in…no fair that he is not outside to enjoy space void of walls and to curl himself around the human. Walls are stupid, says the cat. The human gives him a knowing smile. The walls will be smart when it rains or snows or is frigidRead more

Busted!

I received a phone call on Wednesday evening from a second shift aide at the place where mom lives. The conversation went something like this: Hello, is this Mary? “Yes it is.” This is Linda from EB, where your mom lives. “Yes? What’s up?” I thought I should call and let you know what happened. (Thoughts of mom falling and hurting herself immediately entered my head.) “What happened?” Well, I went into your mom’s room to get her ready forRead more
