Huh?

“What did I do?” That’s what mom asked me on Sunday. Twice. I answered, “I don’t know,” twice. I did not have a clue. Did she spill her coffee or steal someone’s oatmeal at breakfast? In hindsight, I should have answered, “I don’t know, but do you need bail money?” This post has been brought to you by the question of the day. It has also been brought to you by Linda G. Flewn Time

I often look for the answer to the question… “How did it get so late so soon?” Does anyone know? It’s almost December, three weeks and five days before Christmas. We haven’t seen much snow. Why do the days go by so fast? Does anyone see? Until January 1st, when time seems to stop around here. Most northerners will agree. Why does Saturday suddenly turn to Monday? Does anyone care? We need another weekend day to finish what we started.Read more

One-Liner Wednesday: Smile

“My mom smiled at me. Her smile kind of hugged me.”  ~R.J. Palacio, from the book Wonder~ Mom was very chipper and talkative on Sunday. It was a stark contrast to when she hardly spoke two sentences to me on her birthday. She was tired then, but not this day. Her first question was, “Are you taking me home?” I answered with, “I’m sorry, not today. I have to go home to Appleton and to work tomorrow. Maybe next week.”Read more

Thank You for Holding!

Mom’s right-ear hearing aid broke a couple of weeks ago. I’ve since been trying to get it fixed and waiting for the audiologist to call me. The hearing aid needs a battery cover/holder that has to be ordered. Mom is down to one hearing aid and I’m sure that she and those that take care of her are struggling to have pleasant conversations. Wednesday, as I was on the highway, headed home from a meeting, the phone rang. Unfortunately, I didn’tRead more

Where is Peace?

That is a great question. I wish there was a pat answer. I feel peace hiding, trembling, afraid to show its face of late. ISIS terrorist attacks in Paris and Beirut, and the bombing of a Russian airliner over Egypt, have the world’s humanity on edge – fearful, filled with anxiety, and witness to suffering. From NBCNews.com:  “SAINT-DENIS, France — A woman blew herself up early Wednesday (November 18) as an elite police unit raided an apartment while hunting theRead more

What’s a Girl to Do?

It’s been a cold, gray and rainy Sunday. Temps are hovering at 34 F with a sturdy 20 mph SSW wind. So, what’s a girl to do with a dreary, lazy, no-reason-to-play day? The answer is clear. Snuggle under the covers and take a long nap. After the human stops taking photos, of course. And after the girl takes a whiff of the boy and urges him to leave her alone. Any other questions?Read more

Too Many?

Q: Can one human ever take too many photos of the “kids,” the furry beasts? Gibbs answers with, “What? Of course not! I AM Mr. Photogenic…take as many as your rectangular box will hold. Ziva responds with, “What? Again? Go away, I’m trying to nap! One more photo, human, and I’ll extend my claws. A:  Yes, but proceed with caution.Read more
