Missouri State Penitentiary for Thursday Doors and #CBWC

During vacation at the end of June, biking buddy and I did more than bike the Katy Trail. Toward the end of the week, the days were extremely hot, so we decided to be “tourists” and investigate Jefferson City, the capitol of Missouri, sweating a tad bit less in the process. The now open-for-tours Missouri State Penitentiary gave us an opportunity to witness how harsh prison conditions could be in the 1800’s and up to the year 2004, when theRead more

This week’s entry for Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge (CBWC) includes photos of things that are bumpy or lumpy. NOTE: Evidently, lumpy and bumpy has been postponed for a week, but I hope you enjoy regardless. If my readers can stand it, I have a few more photos of Colorado from the two and a half week vacation in October and November…this time in black and white. I hope you enjoy! #CBWC: Head out on the Highway

This week’s entry for Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge (CBWC) includes photos of things to drive. Easy peasy. If you will forgive black and white photos of photos, I’m happy to share a few moments from my days as a leather-clad biker chick. I was born to be somewhat wild, always looking for adventure. The motorcycle days came to an end in late 2009 and I eventually traded in motorized two wheels for leg-powered two wheels. While I missRead more

Above and Below What’s Lost

February 15th marks the two year anniversary of when I lost my mother at the age of 99-1/2. While I miss this dear woman, I am relieved and grateful that she is not sitting alone in a nursing home, without her daughter’s visits, while a pandemic rages on. Heaven above is where she belongs and earth below is where I must live and breathe and keep moving. I can plainly see Your smile from above The peace you must feelRead more

#CBWC: Along the Water Trails

This week’s entry for Cee’s Black and White Photo Challenge (CBWC) includes photos depicting in or on water. I’m not sure if “alongside” water counts, but it’s what I have to offer this week. When I bike or walk the local trails, I often parallel or cross water in the form of a lake, a river, a channel, or marsh. The Fox Valley area has plenty of water spaces to enjoy throughout the year. Following are a few water photosRead more
