#SoCS: Trails are the Easy Part

For this week’s Stream of Consciousness, Linda G. Hill has made it easy for me to post: “Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “trail/trial.” Use one, use both, use them any way you’d like. Bonus points if you use both. Have fun!”

First and foremost, I will not be responding to trial. There’s a celebrity trial going on right now (haven’t watched a second of it) that is much in the media and seemingly never-ending. I think this is the last week, but considering everything else going on in the world, I truly don’t care. Plus, I don’t care for trial TV, whether it is fictional or non-fictional. It simply doesn’t interest me.

So, onto the easy part. Trails.

You all know I love trails. The Kona and my feet love them as well.

I’ve been on all of the local trails, 14 state trails including the local Wiouwash and Fox River trails, the Maritime and Rawley Point trails along Lake Michigan, the Sparta-Elroy and Omaha trails in central Wisconsin, and the Hank Aaron and Oak Leaf trails in the southeastern part of the state. There are many more to explore in the southwest and northwest parts of the state, but they require some travel and a few days away, so I will hang onto them as possible destinations for biking buddy and I.

I’ve also been on trails in Minnesota and will add Missouri to the list in about a month.

I’m a nature girl. I love being in it. I will take nature in a heartbeat over the mall, movie theater, or an amusement park. The trails give me moments of peace and silence, breaths of fresh air, scurrying chipmunks, geese acting as crossing guards, other bikers smiling as they pass, hikers with their pups and children, and, above all, an opportunity to commiserate with God and Mother Nature, thanking them both for the splendors along the route.

Many of you have come along with me over the years in blog posts and understand that traveling the trails is one of my greatest pleasures. So, without regurgitating more about where I’ve been or what I’ve done, I’m going to end this post with a gallery of some of my favorite photos from the many places I’ve been.

Happy trails!

Stream of Consciousness Saturday is the brainchild of author Linda G. Hill. Every Friday, Linda provides her followers with an inspiring blogger’s prompt. It can be a word or words and sometimes bonus points are involved (my favorite). Linda asks us to write without editing, other than correcting spelling errors.

Just go with the flow.

Thanks Judy. When the days are hot and humid, that’s when I have to get up early and go for a ride. Or so I tell myself. Happy gardening or whatever makes you smile! 🙂

This is a beautiful collection of photographs. It motivates me to put on my walking boots… 😉

Go to a reputable bike shop, Victoria, and ask the experts. My bike was given to me by my brother, so my only recommendation is to buy a bike that fits you and feels comfortable.

Thanks Lauri! The beautiful scenery is a good part of why I love riding the trails rather than on the road. One cannot beat the paintings of nature.

Good job on the prompt. I wonder if explaining why you weren’t doing ‘trial’ you still get bonus points? I love the gallery, and I look forward to many more pictures from you upcoming trip. You can tell from the pictures that you are in your element on those trails. I hope you have a great weekend, Mary.

Thanks Dan! I believe as long as I type the word “trial” in some fashion, it counts. At least I hope it does. Not to worry, you will definitely get more photos from the impending trip and the rest of summer.

I may take some of these photos and create a framed collage on one of my walls. It seems appropriate and something fun to do. Have a beautiful weekend, Cheryl!

Thank you for not responding to ‘trial.’ That is a circus. Your trail photos are so lovely. I saw the comment about the heat and humidity–which we have right now. At about 7am every morning, a group of 3 bikers swish down my street. I live around a curve and down a hill, so swish is what they do. Smart to get it out of the way so early in the AM. Enjoy the weekend! Wait a minute–we’re retired! Every day is a weekend! Meows to Gibbs from my crew. 😺

    • bikerchick57 says:

Lol, yes we are retired. I was going to get up this morning and go for a bike ride, but being awake since 2:30 am put a crimp in that. So retired me is going to go lay down and take a nap. Gibbs says meow back and have a happy weekend!

This was supposed to be the week that the bikes were taken for a tune up but being in COVID quarantine has squashed that plan. I love the collage and think making one for the wall would be perfect!

    • bikerchick57 says:

I took my bike in for a tune-up in April. It’s a small bike repair shop that is reasonable and not crowded with people. I hope your lockdown ends soon so you can get out on the bikes too.

I may have to rethink my position on trails. Those pictures are lovely. I would just have to go very slowly. Happy Saturday Mary !

Thanks for writing about trails. I LOVED the photos. Nature girls ROCK (and roll). 🙂 I was surfing youtube and got sucked into one clip of that celebrity trial. Believe me, you aren’t missing a thing. Nature trails and Star Trek are WAY better.

    • bikerchick57 says:

JoAnna, you are welcome! I hope to get out in nature today as the sun is shining and the air is warm. Great day to be outside. 🙂

Your photo montage is great. I know what you mean about preferring nature to movies or the mall. You’re fortunate to live where you do so you can enjoy the trails.

That’s one of the positive and bright spots of living where I am and in WI…there is a united desire for trails. I love it!
