He knows
He yowls
The human shares its noes
It smells
It desires
He reminds her how this goes
We spar
He resists
The nose wants what it wants
They waft
They float
The essence of chicken taunts
She speaks up
He turns deaf
Human food not to be shared
The whines
The sadness
Hunger is loudy declared
Almost time
Almost here
The feeding of this cat
Forgets chicken
Embraces fish
The nose smells where it’s at

Stream of Consciousness Saturday is the brainchild of author Linda G. Hill. Every Friday, Linda provides her followers with an inspiring blogger’s prompt. It can be a word or words and sometimes bonus points are involved (my favorite). Linda asks us to write without editing, other than correcting spelling errors.
Just go with the flow.
Like a babbling brook or rain drops. Click HERE if this type of writing floats your boat or helps with your decision-making. Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “nose/noes/knows.” Use one, use ’em all, bonus points if you use all three. Have fun!
Well done, Mary. I really like the rhythm of this poem. I almost felt myself moving as I read it.
Now, bonus points in hand, feed Gibbs.
Thanks, Dan! Perhaps I should call this, “The Walking out to the Kitchen to Feed Gibbs” poem?
Not to worry – the poor thing will be fed at 10:00 CST or when the pathetic cries are too difficult for the human to handle. 😉
Have a wonderful Easter!
MuMu is screaming at me to make the sun appear in the sky. It’s cloudy. She’s on her window shelf and she’s not happy.
With the non-spring like weather we are having, I feel MuMu’s pain. Tell her to email me later and we’ll have a woe-is-me pity party together.
😉
They do let us know what they want. Mama Cat has gotten much better at that compared to her feral days. David says she’s the most vocal cat he’s known. I guess bossy cats feel safe to express themselves.
Welcome to my world, JoAnna. In 44 years of having cats, Gibbs is by far the most vocal. I think God gave him extra vocal cords and a willing spirit!
Year’s ago when our cat would tuck herself in some tiny crevice not to be found, the sound of the can opener always had her running. For her it was ears before nose!
Oh yes, Maggie, they know sounds too. And sometimes actions by their humans. Cats not only use their senses but can also be very intuitive.
It’s a battle of wills
Always and forever!
😜
A wonderfully accurate depiction of the cat’s relationship with food! My Fida cat was completely food motivated… He would even attempt to indulge in my cola beverage!!
Gibbs is usually motivated to cry for food 30-60 minutes before the actual meal time. He can be relentless. It’s a good thing he’s so adorable. 😉
Why fight it? Nose smells, kitty wants, mama gives…😉
Lol, yes Cheryl, resistance is often futile.
