You can touch my paw

Are you kidding me right now?

Can you see I’m trying to sleep?

Don’t care if you heard a meow

It may have been an annoyed peep

Let’s get this straight and evenly precise

Only I can disturb the daytime snooze

Consequence comes when you roll the dice

It may involve blood and a bruise

I’ll catch you later when it’s time

To stretch, yawn and head to the dish

This nap will no longer need to rhyme

As you will feed me cold, smelly fish

Leave me alone, human mom of mine

Take the camera from the gray furry face

You can touch my paw if you feel divine

I’m not beneath granting feline grace

See you later on the comfy couch

For love time and soothing pets

Maybe then I won’t be quite the grouch

And neither of us will have any regrets

You read his message loud and clear. You should feel honored to be able to touch the paw. Now, off you go.

Nice job, Mary. I enjoyed this and MiMi and MuMu each give it a high five. But don’t touch.

Those ever so annoyed eyes send the message loud and clear!

I love the poetry and the sentiment. It is a message all cat parents understand all too well.

It’s funny how its okay for them to wake us up or disturb our sleep at any time, but when the kitty litter is on the other paw….well, I guess we choose that life, huh?

I am pretty sure we are here to serve them. At least that is the message I always received.

Ha! It’s his world. You just live in it! My one French Bulldog tells me the same thing. Brilliantly captured.

  4. This is adorable, Mary J. And Gibbs is looking quite regal.
Crystal deigns to accept a massage of her back feet — provided she’s not fully awake. LOL. Hugs on the wing.
