At last
you show your face
smiling, glowing
a bit smug
absent you were
betrayer
deserter
hiding in ashiness
depression
cover of darkness
for days
twelve or more
I could not see your smile
or feel the warmth
of an embrace
damp
tired
is what I felt
and sleep
wanted to sleep
You’re here now
giving life
and breath
to my soul
I love
to soak up your being
praise your existence
fall to the ground
thank God
for without you
I am nothing
we are nothing
the world is cold
but you are present today
here at this moment
surrounded by blue
uplifted by earth
and the expanse
of sky
floating, moving
Sun, star, sol, golden sphere
welcome home
Beautiful.π€
Thanks Cheryl! We had one day of that embrace, so I had to pay homage to it somehow.
I understand
This is beautiful, Mary. The best thing about the four seasons is seeing the beauty in each. This is a nice thing to read as we start our week with a sunny day.
The sun is peeking out for the moment, but more clouds for the rest of the day. I had thought about taking the lawn chair and sitting out in the sun for 30 minutes, but never made it. It’s okay, though, I enjoyed it while I was driving around town yesterday – to church and yoga.
See, you need Maddie. She’d make sure you got your outside sittin’ time.
Ha! True! π
Beautiful reminder to be grateful for the blessings of today because they may not be here tomorrow. (I was thinking about my cat as I read this poem.)
Absolutely Laurie. After almost two weeks without sun, Sunday was a blessing. It’s out again today, so I may have to leave the office and get a few rays over lunch.
And when I go home later, I’ll be sure to pay attention to the furry critters…for you.
I can attest to the rightness of these words. The sun has been shining all day and Iβve been feeling outright buoyant βοΈ
It’s amazing how much the sun affects our liveliness, or that the lack of it can make us crabby. Enjoy your winter days of sun, Joanne!
Sunny days been few and far between this winter but itβs been a mild one and I canβt complain about that!
No, I’m not complaining too much either, Joanne. It’s been a very tolerable winter so far and we don’t have far to go until the first official day of spring. π
You live in Wisconsin, don’t you… π yes yes….
How did you know? ππ
He only came back here today! That was a long gray time. I wanted to sleep and sleep and sleeeeeeep!
Lack of sun sucks the life out of us, makes us want to hibernate. I’m glad you have Mr. Sun back and hope he stays for awhile.
