“January is here, with eyes that keenly glow,
A frost-mailed warrior
striding a shadowy steed of snow.”
– Edgar Fawcett
After several days of above-normal temps, along with sun, rain, and pea-soup fog, it has turned colder and snowed. It’s a fitting start to the month of January in the Northern Hemisphere. Snow and cold are expected here in the heart of winter, but not necessarily desired unless you own skis or a snowmobile. I desire a gentler winter, with less snow and none of that below zero crap.
I also desire football time with the home team through January. A few wins in the playoffs will help take the chill from the air.
It’s a new month and a new year and I’m not throwing out any resolutions or an inspirational plan outside of retirement. I don’t want to. The year is going to act as it wants and I’ll follow along. I will get to yoga when I get there. I will write when I have time and a creative thought. I will ride the bicycle when the breeze beckons. I will volunteer when it taps me on the shoulder.
No schedules this year other than the work one. I’d like to take the year as it comes, maybe with a little less busyness.
Less busyness, a gentle winter, football wins, no resolutions, no schedules.
Do you think it possible?

Anything is possible. Except football, for me. I’m now living vicariously through Green Bay, and if that fails, Nes Orleans. This weekend, it’s Go Titans!
Taking life as it comes is a good plan, Mary. I’m sure you’re ready for what 2020 has in store – I hope it’s all good things.
Happy New Year!
Sorry there isn’t the possibility of our teams meeting up again in a Super Bowl, but thanks in rooting for Green Bay. I like your second choice too. 🙂
I am entering this year with a lot of hope for good things to come, with a very positive end. Happy New Year, Dan.
It was a tough year for our boys. I think 2020 will be a good year all around. Enjoy it.
It sounds to me like you’ve got all your priorities lined up nicely 👍
I’m trying to keep it simple and a bit uncluttered this year, Joanne. 🙂
Perfect plan, Mary. 😊
Thanks Cheryl. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year.
Same to you, my friend!
Good plan! From your mouth to God’s ear. 😀
I hope He’s listening! 😉
I’m going with your plan….or non-plan. Sounds good to me.
I’m hoping to spend today in pajamas as long as possible to jump start the non-plan. Happy New Year, Lois!
Happy New Year, Mary!
That sounds good to me, Mary! Enjoy much as you can
(I could also do without the below zero bits.)
I shall enjoy and let’s hope we both stay reasonably warm the rest of this winter.
Thanks Cindy. Same to you!
“January is here, with eyes that burning go,
A flame-mailed warrior
Striding a fiery steed of woe.”
I know…it’s hellishly hot there. I’ve seen the temps, so hope your air conditioning is running well and the iced tea is overflowing.
You are a New Year’s resolution hero!! I love them and agree wholeheartedly. And, I’d add a Packer win for the Super Bowl (but by a lot, not by 3 points in the last few minutes of the game!) Happy New Year, Mary.
I agree Shelley. Let’s have some Packer wins that don’t give us heart attacks. A few point-filled, one-sided games in favor of our team, all the way to the Super Bowl. I think that’s their resolution and we just sit back and keep our pompoms ready. 🙂
I’m with you!! It’ll be fun to see them pull it off if (when) they do!! 🙂
Happy New Year!
Same to you, John!
Sounds like a plan. Or a no-plan plan. [blinks]
NPP for short… 😏
Anything is possible – I’m pulling for you. 🙂
Thanks Judy! 🙂
Yes! Anything is possible! I like your relaxed perspective.
I hope I stay relaxed, JoAnna!
