In nine days.
I will not be sitting at the end of a tree limb with a bird in my hand.
No.
In nine days…
Biking buddy and I will be traveling to southeastern Minnesota to spend a week on picturesque bike trails along a winding river and eight small villages, while visiting shops, eateries and at least two brewpubs, breathing in the start of autumn, and thanking God for vacation, relaxation and the beauty of the outdoors.
I’m as excited as the five-year-old going to Disney World for the first time.
Biking the Root River and Harmony-Preston Trails has been a desire for the last five years, since I first learned of their existence. It has been a bucket list item and now the trip and adventure is coming true.
In nine days.
I can barely wait.
In the interim, between now and when I return with hundreds of photos toward the end of September, I’m providing a small taste from the internet. It’s going to be an extraordinary vacation…I can feel it.

That is so very exciting and I love the quote
I’ll be counting the days, Beth. We’ve been planning this since March and it’s almost time!
Woo hoo!
Oh how fun! I canβt wait for your photos.
Knowing myself…there will be hundreds of photos…and it might take me a week or two to get through them all. Stay tuned!

Woohoo have fun ππ
I most definitely will! Thanks. π

Have a great time. I hope the trip is all you want it to be.
I’m sure it will be, Michele. Thank you!
It looks amazing!! Looking forward to the adventure via your photos and stories!
I’ll let you know if it’s worth a trip from Canada. So many cool trails to explore!
So many trails, so little time! π
I can imagine how you are counting the days, and how almost nothing else matters. It looks so wonderful. I hope you have a great time, and I look forward to the thousands of pictures. I can almost feel the crisp air on that wooded path.
I spent two beautiful fall days on an awesome bike trail five years ago, with Natasha. It’s when I found out about the Root River and also experienced how great it can be to bike on a sunny, leafy, crispy day in September.
Love the quote! Have a great time biking in Minnesota! Sounds like a wonderful way to spend a vacation. What an adventure!
Thanks Laurie. I’d love to have a week-long biking adventure every year, but I’ll take this one in hand and enjoy. π
What a wonderful and exciting adventure, Mary! Savor every moment.
I’m going to, Judy, with every breath!
It sounds wonderful! I envy you and your upcoming escape. The best is ALWAYS yet to come, so take pictures, take notes, and have a brew for me!
I will do all for you, Claudia, especially having a brew. Cheers!
What a wonderful adventure that will be! Enjoy your vacation…
Thanks Laura. Am I there yet? π
Wow that sounds fantastic, and looking at the images what a great place to go biking. Hope you have a brilliant holiday.
I’m hoping the weather allows us a few good days of biking. Just in case, though, I’m taking the rain suit along!
No wonder you are excited, Mary J! The pics are awesome. That kind of anticipation is a huge part of any vacation or event. Keep it up. Then have a fabulous vacation. Hugs on the wing!
Thanks for the hugs, Teagan. I would fear the days leading up to vacation as dragging, but I think they’ll pass before I can manage to yell WooHoo! π
Your trip sounds like a fun adventure. Now how will you distract yourself while you wait for it to begin? I love the quote.
Work will distract for most of the time. Have to fill in the gaps. π
You remind me of a dear friend here who’s a walker, and does that all over the world (she just returned from Scotland, i.e.). Have a WONDERFUL time, dear Mary-Jean !!!
XO
I’d love to bike in other countries, given the chance, but I may have my hands full trying to explore every last trail in my own country. Thanks M-R! β€
Your excitement is contagious!! I feel giddy myself. Enjoy π
Glad I could share! π
I’m so happy for you – enjoy the journey. I hope the weather holds out for you!?!
Thanks Shelley! I will be grateful for any bike riding time that doesn’t involve pouring rain. π
Those are the moments where the pubs on the trail come in handy! π
Ha! Yes they do!
I’m so late, you’re done gone! I can feel the anticipation in this post π I’m sure it was a marvelous vacation!
Having a fabulous time! Two more days…
Fabulous indeed! π
