A Familiar Pose

Quite often

Sitting on the couch

I witness

A familiar pose

of one in stillness

Seemingly sad

The other one sits

in wait

Impatient with him

He pretends the victim

She stares uncaring

He begs attention

She wonders if it’s time to eat

He feigns forlorn

She says get over it

He huffs his woe

She leaves disgusted

I stay sitting on the couch

  1. What fun today, Mary. I love the poem and the photo. Our little Russian Blue adopts that same pose on one of our legs, or the arm of a chair. Spooky!

Cats lay in the weirdest positions. I often wonder if Gibbs is mimicking his wild cat cousins, straddling a tree limb in the heat of the day. After he kills the kibble.

These guys crack me up. Gibbs is the perfect image for ;forlorn’ – it looks like he has given up. Yours is the perfect description, and probably the best response..

And yet, Teagan, when I left to go out this afternoon, they were cuddled up on the bed, nice and cozy. Go figure…
