Abruptly, as I begin this verse, and
slowly, as it frames the page,
It sits beautifully.
The expression of words curve delicately into a prompt.
Prompts are delightfully fun and quirky and thought-provoking.
Yet, truthfully, a prompt can instill the cold, clammy sweat of writer’s block.
I calmly think of what to say, what to do next.
Oh my.
This should be wickedly fun,
not wearily woesome.
I absolutely must act briskly and quickly to spin a yarn
For I shall be somewhere soon,
outside with a beer in hand,
and a cheerfully present friend with which to share.
To be brutally honest, I don’t know when I’ll be back,
and I don’t know what condition I’ll be in Saturday morning.
Most likely, wickedly tired.
And painfully sober.
Anyhow, I literally have mere minutes to finish this prompt,
to expertly maneuver my way to the finish line.
So…
Abruptly, this ends.
Stream of Consciousness Saturday is the brainchild of author Linda G. Hill. Every Friday, Linda provides her followers with an inspiring blogger’s prompt. It can be a word or words and sometimes bonus points are involved (my favorite). Linda asks us to write without editing, other than correcting spelling errors.
Just go with the flow.
Like a babbling brook, ambling stream or running river. Click HERE if this type of writing floats your boat or helps with your decision-making. This week’s prompt is “adverb.” Start your post with any adverb and run with it.
Wonderful.
Thank you! 🙂
Cheers to you accomplishing a splendidly delightful response to the prompt! Happy Saturday, Mary!
Happy Saturday to you too, Shelley. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, despite the continuing stupid weather. Nice time to settle in and read a good book!
Thanks, Mary. Yeah, the weather isn’t lovely, that’s for sure. I have a long list of projects that I’ve been putting off when the weather has been nice. But…reading a book, that does sound lovely! xx
Brilliant Mary! Have so much fun!
Thanks Cheryl. We did have fun yesterday because how could we not with friendship, food, music and beer!
Nicely done, Mary!!
Thanks, Maggie. I appreciate your positive comments!
😀
Glad you approve!
oh this wickedly wound me down a path!
I hope it was a good path, Katie! 😉
This is wonderful. I’m glad you had a good time. Looks like you’re starting the weekend well.
Thanks Dan. I needed the liquid and food nourishment yesterday so that I could help with spring cleaning this morning. Just finished, time for more food! And maybe a nap…
Ha ha – good planning.
I think you managed to squeeze in an adverb or two in there 😉. Nicely done!
Thanks, Joanne. I was definitely not subtle with the prompt, but I think the post came out okay. 😏
It certainly did 🙂
Tee-hee — love it! Nicely done, Mary J. Hugs.
Thanks Teagan. It truly was an abrupt story…20 minutes and out the door!
A marvellous collection of adverbs, M-J !! They are kind of native to this writer, who remembers being lectured by her editor to STOP USING ADVERBS ! How can one stop with them ? – they’re so bloody … descriptive ! [grin]
Yeah, I got a bit carried away with the adverbs. But you have willingly left a positive comment, so to heck with your editor! 🙂 Glad you enjoyed the nonsense.
Good job! I mean, you write goodly 😉
Thanks and you comment awesomely
waau nice move practice enough you will write well..
Thank you!
