Tasting Times Two

“We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect.”

~Anais Nin~

Exactly.

Why wouldn’t we?

In writing, we can relive happy childhood moments, feel the wrinkles of an elderly parent’s hand, witness the landscape of a bike trail, and taste the black smoothness of the best.cup.of.coffee.ever.

No matter the genre of our writing, we somehow invoke memories, experiences, senses and the here-and-now to create the written word and taste life again.

Yummy!

What is on your tongue today, peeps?

What are you tasting twice?

Yum! I’ve always wanted to try a cup of Peet’s, but never brave enough to buy an entire bag. Whether it’s coffee or tea or something else that hits the sense first thing in the morning, it’s a great time to partake. Have a third cup, Judy, and enjoy!

I’m on my second cup of home brew, and I’m enjoying this post. It really is true about writing. Have a great day, Mary!

I can barely wait to get to work at have a cup…and eat something (growling stomach). I signed up for an online writing course that starts tonight, so I will at least have liquid material to put to paper…right? Have an awesome Wednesday, Dan.

  2. Second cup of coffee here too. 🙂 Lovely post. Glad to be here again. I have two days until a creative non-fiction deadline but I feel neither creative nor fictionalised, only non. 😀

I think we all have the “non” days or periods in our writing life. I hope you find your creative voice before the deadline. Need more coffee?? 😏

Writing does make what we understand and experience clearer – a second living of it. Maybe getting it right the second time.

I love second livings, even the unhappy or sad times because writing about them can be so cathartic.

Second cup of coffee here, too. Mine is Henry’s Blend from Seattle’s Best. Henry was a cat who lived in the original coffee shop and now he has his own blend to immortalize him. Thus I’m writing about the wacky ways of the world and how they charm me. Happy Wednesday, Mary.

    • bikerchick57 says:

That’s cool Ally. I did not know there is a coffee blend named after a cat. I like that the company gave Henry life after death.

I’m long past the coffee stage and into chocolate … the first chocolate in 4 weeks. I can’t believe I lasted that long and how wonderfully creamy it was.

mmmmm – reliving the chocolate now …. mmmmm …..

Love this! I’m tasting twice much in the way I inhale books as I read them. Aaaaahhhh that’s the stuff. Happy Wednesday Mary!!!

Inhaling a book… I love the thought and vision of it. When a book is well written and engaging, that’s exactly what we do.
