Cheers to air conditioning
and the space that’s not too hot
Cheers toย capris and flip flops
the short shorts…I cannot
Cheers to coconut ice cream
and lemonade in a glass
Cheers to a swimmable lake
and flopping down in tall grass
Cheers to riding an orange bike
and walking wooded trail
Cheers to a frosty mug
and its contents to inhale
Cheers to blue sky and sun
and the birds that chirp their song
Cheers to childrens’ laughter
and the days that are brightly long
Cheers to the floral display
and the colors of neon hue
Cheers to the southerly wind
and the warmth of which we accrue
Cheers to the gift of summer
and relief from a chill not here
Cheers to three more months of this
and the reason to down a beer
Stream of Consciousness Saturday is the brainchild of author Linda G. Hill. Every Friday, Linda provides her followers with an inspiring blogger’s prompt. It can be a word or words and sometimes bonus points are involved (my favorite). Linda asks us to write without editing, other than correcting spelling errors.
Just go with the flow.
Like a babbling brook, ambling stream or running river. Click HERE if this type of writing floats your boat or helps with your decision-making.
Cheers to a wonderful summer poem and a guy who reminds me of someone I know ๐
I hope you can beat the heat this weekend.
Nahm Antion at the bar…do you talk like him too? Cheers to staying inside today. The dew point last night at 10 pm was 71. Yikes! I want last weekend back with it’s dry 70’s and cool sleep-filled nights, but it appears the heat is here to stay for a good chunk of the coming week.
I have not picked up a New England accent, and I still retain enough Pittsburghese to drive my wife crazy. The regular Saturday bartender has been known to have a beer on the bar by the time I sit down, and a few comments have been made about a similarity to Norm. But, it is comfortable place to go.
Stay cool – cheers!
Pittsburghese? I didn’t think anyone from PA or WI had any type of accent. Our speech is normal, yah hey?
๐
Yinz guys might not consider it an accent, but we do have our own vocabulary. Like going dawntawn to see the Stillers play.

Cheers – loved it and the summer months. ๐
Thanks Judy. Cheers to enjoying summer for as long as it lasts!
Cheers to all things summery!!
It’s already 73F at 7 am and it’s going to be another scorcher today. I say a prayer of gratitude for AC on days like this, but for now it is comfortable to sit outdoors listening to the birds chirping and enjoying my morning coffee.
It’s 80 here (feels like 87) at 7:00 am. I just received an excessive heat warning on my phone. Yikes, I think I will stay indoors today and catch up on my reading, although I might go sit on the patio for a little bit just to breathe in the outdoor air.
Cheers indeed Mary!
Have a wonderful weekend, Cheryl!
Thanks
Three cheers to your poem! Stay cool this weekend, and enjoy a frosty mug of good cheer!
Thanks Shelley. I’ve already been to the store to get the beer I most enjoy. ๐
Cheers to that delicious lemonade/ice cream concoction they make downtown. YUM.
I do love anything lemony, so that sounds delicious!
Excellent.
Thank you! ๐
Cheers to your sweet summer days! Coconut ice cream sounds perfect. Down here, we cheer when the temps dip into the 80s for a day or two before the 90s come back. Stay cool!
I don’t blame you for cheering on the 80’s. When it gets to 90 with a high dew point, it’s not a fun date.
Cheers to short shorts I cannot wear..busted up at that one! ๐ We are in triple digit heat index right now, so pride goes out the window and short shorts (well, not too short) will appear on my very white legs! Look away, people. Look away!
Cheers to white legs! I don’t remember the last time I wore short shorts or a short skirt. Must have been in my early 40’s, before I succumbed to the spider veins and extra “meat.” ๐
I need to remember a few of those reasons to cheer more often. Made me grin ear to ear.
Right. After the blizzard we had this past April, I’m trying not to complain about the current heat. I have to enjoy summer and all the wonderful things that go with it.
๐
That is clearly the most cheerful cheer I’ve read on this prompt! I hope you get bonus points! I could almost feel your joy, and for a moment, I thought I liked summer, but that was just because you’re so convincing. I truly love summer FOR YOU ๐
That is the most cheerful comment I’ve read for this post. Cheers and bonus points for the both of us…for Mary’s summer and Joey’s winter and the good stuff in between. ๐
