2017 in Pictures

Like sands through the hourglass, so was the year of 2017.

It’s January 1st and I’m hanging out at home in my pajamas. I might find my way to yoga or the gym later, but it depends on whether or not I really want to wander out into the deep freeze. In a sense, the cold makes me hardier than the average Floridian, able to withstand very large temperature ranges. On the other hand, cold is cold and it is COLD outside. I’m looking forward to this next Sunday, when we will have a heat wave of temperatures in the 20’s (Farenheight).

WooHoo! Get out the flipflops and shorts!

Or maybe I can ditch the long underwear and wool socks for a few days.

Whatever. Spring is about 78 days away and counting…

In the meantime, let’s take a slideshow look back at life in Wisconsin in the company of friends, family, cats and bike trails. May 2017 rest in peace!

This was a great way to look back. I think the best picture (yes, even better than my train) was the little bit of smile at the beginning of bike season.

    Stay warm!

  2. My favourite was the beer. Or the cosplay. Maybe the bridges. I like bridges.
My Jan 1st was spent setting up a friend’s website and painting the shed which felt like a productive start. I had to paint the roof ends from on top of a ladder. My nerves are still recovering. You can fall off things, you know….
Happy New Year to you! Hope you get some warmth. We’ve got 42℃ on Saturday so I’ll have some spare heat I could send you.

The slideshow is wonderful, and your mom is adorable. Cranes and construction..come down to Florida. How in the heck many cranes does it take to (re)build a bridge?! Temps dipped down to 26 here last night. Yeah, yoga in my PJ’s was the way to go. Stay warm, Mary.

We have had a major road and bridge construction project going on here and I counted 15 cranes within less than a mile. It was crazy! Dan would have been in crane nirvana.

It’s cold outside, but I’m warm inside.

The bridges really are my faves, although they’re all fab. Peace cats still make me smile.
I’m joining you in woolen socks and long underwear if I’m out long at all. I think mid-week we have a day in the high teens or 20s. I’m not sure it matters too much, since every night is below 0, hm? Hot drinks and quilts are where it’s at 🙂

Great look back on the year, Mary. You’ve had a full one 🙂 There are many warm memories in those photos – the photo of you and your mom wins top marks ❤️ – and give you something to look forward to as the days are getting longer!

    • bikerchick57 says:

Thanks Joanne! Through the not-so-good happenings of 2017, there were many excellent moments and great places to reflect on today. I’m hoping for many happy trails for the both of us in 2018.

This was a great way to look back at the year! I might have to do that too. Hold on to the magic during 2018!

Happy New Year to you, Claudia. Looking at these photos reminded me that 2017 had some very bright spots indeed.

Great slide show – thanks for sharing! Hope you get warmer weather soon! Your mom looks great. I have a soft spot for bridges …

Warmer weather is arriving this next Sunday. I’m hoping the deep freeze will permanently stay away after this cold spell. We all need some warmth!

Awesome reflections on a great year! I love the pictures of your beautiful mom! Oh…and the beer ones…and the cat ones…oh, heck, all of them are great! Looking forward to seeing what you capture in 2018!

    • bikerchick57 says:

Thanks Shelley. The photos of mom mean the most to me and I’m glad I was able to capture her sweet smile. I hope to get a few more in 2018, along with the usual cat-in-the-shower photos. 😁

Your mom is adorable! What a sweetie! Give her a big hug for me, ‘kay? Oh, and the BEER! I love that line-up you had there. ~lifts a glass with you~

    • bikerchick57 says:

Yes, mom is adorbs and worthy of several hugs. I’ll take care of your request the next time I visit. Cheers!

M-J, I really do love you ! – you can be counted on to behave just like a real person.
So can Gibbs and Queen Ziva. [grin]
Your Mum – still with us and being looked after by an “imperfect” daughter – re whom it would be totally wonderful if only she realized …
Lui Stringer would say “Hi !” if only he were not wondering what’s going on: it’s currently 42.6º Celsius. Yes ! But I don’t even have my air-con on, so good is this little single-storey terrace !
Will email later on, when I can include a screen-grab of a truly impressive temperature.
    XXXOOO

    • bikerchick57 says:

M-R, I loves you too! Jeepers, it’s freakin’ hot where you are. While I’m about done with the freezing cold stuff, I don’t think I’d want that heat either. Anyhoooo…off to email to blather on about myself, mom and the kids.
