One-Liner Wednesday: Restarted

“I hope @BikerChick57 heart has been restarted.”

That was Dan’s tweet to me on Sunday when, for the second week in a row, my beloved Green Bay Packers won in overtime. By a hair.

Considering that they were playing the 0-12 Cleveland Browns (now 0-13), the game should have been over with by the third quarter. But this is the way the season has been since quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sidelined with a broken collarbone in mid October. His backup QB is still learning how to be a prominent player in the NFL and that doesn’t come without slip-ups and interceptions.

My response to Dan was “Geezuz, Mary and Joseph.” (My apologies to the big guy.)

Dan understands because his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers have had a few close calls this season. We’ve had one or two “Are you still breathing?” tweets after a game. Thankfully, the response is always, “Yes.”

It’s difficult being a die-hard football fan because it doesn’t come without pacing, anxiety, more pacing and heart palpitations during many of the games. Seriously, these two teams should be handing out defibrillators and respirators instead of cheesehead hats and terrible towels.

Right Dan?

This post has been brought to you by football tweets, anxiety and overtime. It has also been brought to you by Linda G. Hill’s “One-Liner Wednesday.” All you need to play along every week is an awesome one-liner and follow a few rules. Birds on a wire are not required, but make sure you link back today’s post to HERE so the rest of us #1linerweds peeps can read it.

Navy lost on Saturday by a missed kick. My son and I do the text thing, also. Football is hard…..

I know, Lois. Exciting and hard at the same time. Sorry about the Navy loss. At least it was close and not a one-sided game. That’s even worse for the losing team and fans.

Absolutely right! 4 of the Steelers last 5 games have been won inside the last minute of play – 3 with a play that ended with no time on the clock! No one in Pittsburgh should ever die of a heart attack (unless during a game). I knew you guys had plenty of time to come back, but then I remembered “oh, still no Rogers” and got worried.

You know that I root for you guys over 30 of the NFL teams, especially the ones from Dallas and Boston. I want that Super Bowl rematch 🙂

We’re all waiting to see if Rodgers plays this Sunday or not against Carolina. If the Packers don’t win out their games, the possibility of a Super Bowl rematch will be gone. And although I’m a die-hard fan, I think our defense needs a new coordinator, a few new players and someone to light a fire under their backsides. Without a good D, it makes things so much tougher on Aaron.

I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens. I’ll keep rooting for both teams…until they meet again!

We need the best thoughts you can send this Sunday.

I’d love to see you guys make a run. I am not a fan of the Vikings, Dallas or the folks across the state from Pittsburgh.

I don’t watch football, but I remember well the team rivalry when I used to watch hockey. Go Leafs!! 😉
