There Will be no Flattery Today

Flattery is like chewing gum. Enjoy it but don’t swallow it.

~Hank Ketcham~

I do believe Gibbs has swallowed his gum several times. He’s the attention-seeking one…the social butterfly…the one who always hears, “He’s such a beautiful cat.” He knows flattery. And, at times, it’s gone to his little gray cranium.

Not today, though.

It was the Annual Trip to the Vet Day(or Two Howling Cats Day)

Trail and Vet 016

There was no flattery in this. Only humility and a veterinarian who said he needs to play more and eat less.

Ziva thought it funny until he said the same about her.

She was not amused on the way home.

Trail and Vet 017

Ziva doesn’t care about flattery or gum.

A basket, food, a face rub and sleep count as necessities for a queen.

Gibbs, on the other hand…his chewing gum will be on the bed post until the next person says, “He’s such a beautiful cat!”

He lays quiet, waiting…

One of our cats doesn’t have a voice. On a trip to the vet, her sister makes enough noise for both of them.

  2. Aw, he’s such a beautiful cat. If overweight. (He just swallowed and then spat it out again, didn’t he?)

The Deluxe Vari Kennel Jr? Want to talk humility, Gibbs? Leo goes to the vet in a cardboard box. That used to have bananas in it. Oh, the degradation….

Vaccinations, rabies shot, and a report of good health…other than a little chubby…funny, I was thinking the other day that Ziva was starting to resemble a bowling ball.

I have a complainer too … and I’m dreading our next visit to the vet. I’m going to get ‘the talk’ about His Chubbiness.

I have that one figured out Andra. It’s getting them to come out of the carrier at the vet’s that’s the tough part. I had to pry Ziva out with a crow bar.

Guess I’m lucky with Mr. Bowie… He likes the car rides.

  5. What cute names for equally cute kitties! Funny, our vet dispenses the same prescription of eating less and playing more for my two! They listen about the play more part, but compensate for the activity by trying to eat even more! 🙂

I am fearful of how my two will react to reduced feed…especially Gibbs, who can get a bit obnoxious when he doesn’t get his way. By the way, now that you’ve called them cute, the flattery is back in play. 😉

      • LOL! The flattery can’t be helped!
My older cat has actually lost some weight through reduced food and exercise. (The younger cat keeps her running and playing) My younger cat is exactly the shape of a Thanksgiving turkey when he lays down with all of his extremities tucked in. It’s impossible to keep him from going after her extra food. Good luck with the food reduction. You’re about to be on Gibbs’ sh*t list! LOL

I have such difficulty with getting one large cat to the vet each year that the thought of getting two of them given their shots is incomprehensible !
It’s fairly marvellous that they have such different personalities.:-)

My boss called me “adventurous” yesterday when I told her I was taking both at the same time. Adventurous and an “idiot” I say! :-p

      • M-R says:

Not really: so much better having it all over and done with in one visit … Brave rather than adventurous !! 🙂
