I have had many heroes in my life. People that I looked up to. People I wanted to be like when I grew up. People who amazed me and inspired me. Never though has someone influenced me as much as a 16 year old girl from Pakistan.

Now in case you have never heard of her (I don’t know how that is possible at this point) but Malala is a heroine. Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by the Taliban in Pakistan for speaking up about girls going to school; they shot her while she was walking home from school. She survived, and not only did she survive; she is changing the world with her story, her courage, and her amazing intelligence.
